HOW WE SEE IT BOOK
There are so many different types of vision impairments and so many different ways you can best help your child to adapt. Unlike children who are totally blind, kids with low vision need to be taught how to use the vision they have while also compensating for their impairment.
The book How We See It: A Basic Guide to Low Vision is a wonderful addition to any low vision library. The guide isn't too big (just 48 pages) and covers basic information about visual development in children and eye health, as well as very specific and practical advice on environmental adaptations for home and at school. The authors also discuss what you can expect at a low vision exam and how to get the most out of your visit with your doctor.
