ACCESSIBLE APPLIANCS

Accessible Appliances

Large appliances are becoming more user-friendly to people with visual impairments. More accessible models, according to AFB AccessWorld, include some wall ovens by GE with bubble controls for temperature and for both hour and minute settings. The Professional Series by Frigidaire has textured controls of the direct key entry or up-down types. KitchenAid dishwashers use textured controls, as do traditional Whirlpool models. The full-size Duet models by Whirlpool are the most user-friendly washing machines
and dryers for the visually impaired, and feature descending tones corresponding to the cycle selected. The largest washer-dryer models are the most accessible.
