Professor Roger Buckley (right) and Madhavan Rajan (left), of Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, won first prize in the Medical Technology category of the Spotlight Competition, organised by Health Enterprise East (HEE), which is an NHS regional partner organisation.
HEE said the equipment would transform corneal transplant surgery and lead to faster recovery of vision. Further development has been planned by the inventors at Anglia Ruskin University's Vision & Eye Research Unit and a grant of £2,000 to develop the chamber was part of the prize.
